Shane Wright

Accredited Mental Health Social Worker

Master of Social Work (Qualifying)

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, Shane has been assessed by the AASW to meet the requirements to become a Medicare Provider of focussed psychological strategies. He can provide services under a Mental Health Care Plan.

He has a passion for assisting people with insights into self-defeating behaviours and strategies to move forward towards a more fulfilling life. He achieves this by focusing on each person’s unique situation and strengths. Shane believes in the importance of creating a caring, supportive and non-judgemental environment when assisting people to create change.

His areas of interest include complex trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, veteran and first responder mental health, depression, anxiety, chronic health issues, adjustment difficulties, work-life balance, clarifying values and life goals, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Prior to pursuing a career in counselling Shane had a 24-year career within State and Federal law enforcement.  Shane found mental ill-health was a significant factor that too often impacted on the lives of first responders and their families.  As a trauma informed Social Worker, this experience affords Shane with unique insight when working beside first responder and veteran men and women.
